Why you choose New age college over traditional college

I can share my personal experience.

I was interested in tech from an early age. I started learning to code in school and even solved some DSA problems till Class 10. By then, I had already decided that software engineering was the field I wanted to pursue.

After that, I focused completely on JEE. But as everyone knows, getting a Computer Science seat in top IITs or NITs is extremely competitive, and I couldn't secure one.

Instead of choosing a branch I wasn't passionate about, I started exploring new-age colleges because I wanted to build my career in tech, not just earn a degree.

While researching, I came across Vedam. I had already watched some of Subhesh Sir's DSA lectures on YouTube and knew he had worked at Google, which gave me confidence in the quality of mentorship. I appeared for the VSAT, received a good scholarship, and decided to join.

So far, the experience has been good. The curriculum is very practical, and there's a strong focus on building projects and improving technical skills.

Talking about hackathons, we've already had a 24-hour intra-college hackathon, where students worked in teams to build projects from scratch. We also participated in an 8-hour inter-college hackathon during the Noesis Tech Fest, which was a great opportunity to compete with students from other colleges and learn from them.

As for the faculty, many instructors come from strong industry backgrounds, which helps because they teach concepts with real-world examples instead of only theory.

That said, I also want to be honest. Compared to traditional colleges, campus life, large cultural events, and extracurricular activities are relatively limited because the primary focus here is on academics, projects, and skill development.

So, if your goal is to build a career in tech and you're genuinely passionate about it, I think new-age colleges are definitely worth considering. But if you're looking for the traditional college experience with bigger fests, sports, clubs, and a larger campus life, a traditional college might be a better fit.

This is just my personal experience, and I'd love to hear from students in other colleges as well.

This is just my personal opinion and experience. I didn’t choose a traditional college because I wanted more hands-on learning rather than focusing mainly on theory and exams. Since I’m interested in coding, building projects, and exploring new technologies, a New Age College felt like a better fit for me.

The faculty has been one of the biggest positives for me. Most of them come directly from the industry and have strong real-world experience, so they don’t just teach concepts they also share what’s actually happening in the tech industry, current trends, and what skills will be important in the future.

Another thing I really like is the hackathon culture. We had a 24-hour hackathon, and there are plenty of hackathons and competitions throughout the year. There’s always something happening, which gives students regular opportunities to build, learn, compete, and grow.

Bro my vision was clear, I was not able to perform well in Jee to be honest and with my percentile I was not getting a good government college, so then I decided that if I really want to study computer science I would not choose a random ipu or private college because my elder brother and everyone said you are taking a huge huge risks on joining these for engineering, so then I already know about Scaler and at that time i was pretty impressed with the results of interships and importantly faculty, so then i started exploring new age colleges, and when I knowed about newton, vedam, so I convinced my parents to let me join one of these because I found it better to take risk of joining newage college over traditional college.
